SOFEC designed and constructed a disconnectable internal turret mooring system to moor a 150,000dwt MODEC converted FPSO in 156m (512ft) water depth. The Mutineer-Exeter field (WA-191-P) is located approximately 150 km north of Dampier on the north west coast of Australia.
The FPSO was converted from an existing double-hull Suez-max tanker that meets very strict Australian environmental regulatory requirements.
When a cyclone approaches, the FPSO can easily temporarily evacuate from the field by the unique SOFEC internal disconnectable turret mooring system.
