SOFEC designed and supplied two CALM Buoy systems for the OCP pipeline project in Ecuador. This new-build pipeline originates in the eastern jungles near Lago Agrio and covers approximately 500km to the Balao terminal, near the port city of Esmeraldas.
The second of two buoys is located in 41m water depth approximately 7km offshore and will receive heavy crude oil for export by a 250,000dwt tankers. One of the buoys was supplied from existing SOFEC inventory and another near-identical buoy was constructed for the project. Each buoy is capable of transferring up to 60,000 BPH of crude.
