SOFEC has applied for patent protection for an invention in a Medium/High Pressure, high volume flow rate Toroidal Swivel that will bring SOFEC to the forefront of this technology.
Medium and High Pressure Toroidal Swivel designs historically have had inherent problems with keeping the Dynamic Seal extrusion gap to a minimum. This has resulted in some swivel suppliers resorting to secondary control methods of achieving and maintaining a reasonable seal extrusion gap. The SOFEC Medium/High Pressure toroidal swivel design maintains the dynamic extrusion gap constant over the entire pressure range it is designed for without the use of secondary contol methods.
SOFEC have retained features from our Low Pressure Swivel design that have proven invaluable to customers, namely, the ability to change out seals in a swivel located in a stack without affecting a shutdown to adjacent swivels.
