With SOFEC's growing involvement in full field developments, SOFEC is taking steps to increase its expertise in the area of riser systems, with particular focus on deepwater risers.

SOFEC has long recognized the need for a more complete treatment of the mooring and riser systems and their effects on turret designs. As the industry's interest in deepwater development grows, SOFEC is committed to working towards a turnkey supply of deepwater risers.

One of the objectives of the group will be to link FMC's subsea technology with FMC SOFEC's traditional mooring capabilities and MODEC's capabilities for supplying FPSO's and TLP's. With this increasing interest in integrated and deepwater solutions and with SOFEC's expanded capability for the supply of various deepwater risers, FMC is now more able to offer a complete integrated solution from the seafloor to the surface.
